Trailheads
There is no direct trailhead at the northern terminus. The Cumberland Trail begins at Tri‑State Peak, which is reached via connecting trails in Cumberland Gap National Historical Park.
The most accessible routes begin from the Iron Furnace or Thomas Walker parking areas, following established trails to the Ridge Trail and on to Tri‑State Peak. This approach requires a moderate hike to reach the start of the Cumberland Trail.
