Bird Mountain Segment
The Bird Mountain Segment will begin in the town of Wartburg.
Once the Cumberland Trail is constructed through this area, thru-hikers will be able to resupply in the town before ascending Bird Mountain and traversing the mountain ridge to the impressive castle-like formations of Frozen Head State Park.
The existing trail crosses the highest elevations of the state park, continuing to follow the ridge of Bird Mountain to the state park’s northeast corner and the end of the Segment. Several loop hikes are available using other trails in Frozen Head State Park.
